Custom sizing may be the perfect choice for you if you want to avoid expensive alterations. We will create the dress according to your specific 7 measurements, such as bust, waist, hips, height, dress length, bicep, sleeve length, and bra cup size. It is important to note that while a custom size dress can significantly enhance the fit, it may not completely eliminate the need for future alterations. This is because the tailoring is done without your physical presence and based on only a few key measurements.

And the best part? Custom sizing costs the same and takes the same amount of time as a standard size dress. The only difference is that custom dresses are non-returnable for any reason, including wedding cancellations or last-minute changes. So make sure you're totally in love with your design before you order!

At Olivia Bottega, we have made our custom sizing option simple and easy to use. While we can only accept a total of 7 measurements, it is enough to achieve a great fit. While you might need minor adjustments, there should be no need for major alterations.

Here are a couple of recommendations for you to consider:

1. It is not recommended to measure yourself

Instead, seek help from your loved ones, friends, or a dressmaker and follow the guidelines we have provided below.

2. Corset back

To eliminate any concerns about alterations, we suggest opting for a lace-up back customization. This allows you to adjust the fit throughout the entire event, whether you need it tightened or loosened for eating and moving.

3. Sleeves

When the dress incorporates illusion tulle and sleeves, it may increase the likelihood of needing alterations, as these elements require additional measurements to ensure a perfect fit.

4. Regarding weight changes

If you have intentions of losing or gaining weight, we advise against taking measurements until you've reached your desired weight.

5. Super Custom Size

To ensure a proper and precise fit, we suggest opting for tailoring based on more comprehensive measurements. This our specialized service, known as "Super Custom Size", requires 16 different measurements and costs $250.

We recommend using this service in the following cases:

Shape features: large breasts, hips, large belly, pregnancy, tall or short stature.
Disproportion: significantly different size in different parts (e.g. bust 12size, waist 16 size).
Want to minimise the risk of alterations at a local seamstress, which can cost more than a dress.

We are aware that unforeseen circumstances can arise and plans may change. However, please note that our Custom Size dresses are non-returnable for any reason. This includes cases such as wedding cancellations, incorrect orders, or changes in measurements. To ensure that you are fully aware and agree to this policy, you will be required to confirm it before adding a custom dress to your Shopping Cart and again before placing your order.

Note: Each dress has its own size range and we cannot accommodate custom sizes outside of the standard measurements listed on the product card.

For example, if the standard sizes of the dress are presented in sizes from OB 4/US 00 to OB 20/US 16, where according to our dimensional grid:
OB 4/US 00 - bust - 31.5 in, waist - 23.6 in, hips - 34.6
OB 20/US 16 - bust - 44.1 in, waist - 36.2 in, hips - 47.2
If your dress is above or below the measurements for these sizes, we will not be able to make it for you.

Custom Sizing Measurements

When ordering a custom-sized made-to-order dress, you must fill in the following measurements in the form.

1. BUST

Measure your bust carefully around the fullest part. Make sure that the tape measure is parallel to the ground, and lies tight under your armpits and isn’t twisted on the back.

2. WAIST

Measure around your natural waistline. Hold the measure tape tight enough but not too tight.

3. HIPS

Measure exactly 20cm down from your natural waistline, that is your hips line. Make sure that the measure tape is held straight.

4. BICEP

Measure the fullest point of your arm carefully.

5. SLEEVES LENGTH

Bend your arm slightly, measure the sleeves
length from the highest shoulder point through
the elbow to the very wrist.

6. SKIRT LENGTH

Measure the desired skirt length from the waist line to the floor (ankles, knees, and so on) with the shoes you’ll be wearing on your bridal day, in case you have a floor length dress.
